The Madera Subbasin exists within the larger San Joaquin Valley Groundwater basin, as described in the California Department of Water Resources Bulletin 118. The County of Madera is the exclusive GSA for the portion of the Madera Subbasin in the unincorporated area of the County, and not otherwise covered by another public agency.
The County of Madera is requesting modification of the boundaries described in Bulletin 118. There are two different boundary modifications currently being requested. First, the County is requesting that DWR modify the definition of the Madera and Kings subbasins such that the southern boundary of the Madera Subbasin follows the Madera County line. Second, on behalf o the GSAs for the entire Madera subbasins, the County is requesting that DWR remove the exclusion of Madera Lake. A full report is available here as item 7g.
